If you've been following this issue in past El Futuros, you know that I am continually looking for low-cost housing options for Mexican and American families. I found another one just last week. It's a one-bedroom 400-sq. ft. Cavco manufactured home that sells for about $21,000. Tom and Linda Alexon, the local representatives, have set up a model on a lot on Blvd. Juarez, just outside of town, and I inspected it last weekend.
The model home Tom showed me has some upgrades not included in the base price, but it's easy to see that the home incorporates top-quality materials and workmanship. The design is functional and it shows beautifully. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
The home is located in an enclosed park which will eventually have space for 34 others, as well as a recreation center. So purchasers may buy one and set it up there at the park, or they may put it on their own lot if they have one. A variety of models can be ordered, and Tom says that it takes about 4 weeks for delivery.
Tom is a commercial air conditioning contractor with a business in Glendale, Arizona. He's been coming down here since the late '60's and early '70's and would like to retire here eventually. Right now he has a boat in the marina which he lives on during the weekends when he's here.
Anyone who wants a home without the hassle of building one or finding a resale home that's appropriate would do well to consider this option. In four weeks a purchaser can have a home that's brand-new, attractive, and ready to move into. For more information call Tom at (602) 561-6225 or 915-1378.
