Leonardo Alberto Carrillo Flores has brought the high-speed, high-tech pizza industry into Puerto Peñasco. You can zip off Blvd. Juarez, hang a hard right and whip into Mangiamos Pizza. It's across the street from Corona Beer. The race track shaped driveway will speed you around the small building to a window where a young girl will bake you a pizza, cut it up, hand it to you, and have you back on the road before you can say "Indianapolis 500." An 8-inch pizza costs less than $2.00.
Leonardo buys all his pizzas from the U.S. ready made and keeps them in a freezer till needed. He also keeps sodas and salad materials, which come from Mexicali, handy in a refrigerator. It's a fast, tasty meal when you're in a hurry. It's also good when you're not in a hurry. So hurry up and go to Mangiamos.
Leonardo has 2 Mangiamos drive-thrus in Mexicali. In one of them he sells 1200 pizzas a day. Now he is trying to find a place for a second Mangiamos outlet in Puerto Peñasco.
Mangiamos Pizza is a franchise with stores in Tecate, San Luis, Mexicali, Tijuana, and Ensenada. Now Puerto Peñasco has been added to the list. It started in 1987 in Mexicali and was the first business to deliver pizza in that city. Later Mangiamos opened an Italian restaurant there. The concept of home delivery was so popular that the company had 10 locations within 6 years. Mangiamos also pioneered the concept of drive-through pizza. Now it has over 30 locations.
The company, in its effort to aid the community, has a program in Mexicali called Tu Salon Come Gratis, which delivers free pizzas to elementary schools.
