A Quiet Place to Relax

by Margaret Fleming

Palmar RV Park is one of our favorite places to swim in Puerto Peñasco. It's located on a beautiful secluded beach just beyond Playa Bonita, which, even at low tide, is nice and sandy. We love swimming there at the end of the day, enjoying the wonderful sunsets, relaxing and watching the pelicans fly overhead. If you want to get away from it all, try Palmar.

The RV spaces are 24' x 40' so there's plenty of room to park without feeling crowded. From there it's only a few yards to the steps leading down to the beach. The park has water and sewer hookups, as well as nice clean bathrooms and showers. There's also a dry camp area. Prices are very reasonable.

To get to Palmar Park, take the main road into town, Blvd. Juarez, until you get to the pedestrian overpass. Turn right and cross the railroad tracks. Go straight until one block before the street deadends at Plaza Las Glorias. Follow the signs for Playa Bonita. Just before the entrance to Playa Bonita, you will see the green and white Palmar RV Park sign on the right. Bear right and keep going until you get to the park.

One of the pleasures of stopping at Palmar RV Park is the opportunity to talk with its owner, Carlos Saenz. Carlos is a very friendly and affable person. Luckily for us, he speaks excellent English. He obviously enjoys people and is never too busy to stop and talk with his guests. We've had interesting conversations with him on every topic from concrete blocks to local politics to the housing future of Puerto Peñasco. Carlos's wife, who works in the office, is also a very pleasant person.

The Saenzes welcome drop-ins, since they usually have plenty of room, but if you want to be sure, call ahead. The number is 011-52-638-3-58-77, and they can be reached during both the daytime and the evening.
